My name is Bellamy Day

I am a vilomah—a bereaved parent. For the past four and a bit years, I’ve been walking a path I never imagined I’d have to take, carrying with me the profound grief of losing my child. If you’re unfamiliar with the term vilomah, it has ancient roots and describes a parent who has lost a child—a heartbreaking inversion of the natural order that words often struggle to encompass.

In 2020, the year Covid reshaped the world, we faced our own devastating loss when we said goodbye to our beloved Princess. Since then, I’ve been navigating the horror of child bereavement, clinging to glimmers of hope wherever I can find them. To help cope with the immense weight of grief, I turned to creative writing as a form of therapy. Writing became my sanctuary—a space to pour my emotions, honour my daughter’s memory, and rediscover joy through the fantastical worlds and characters I create.

My partner of 23 years and I share a wonderfully blended “mish-mash” family. Between us, we have six children, including our youngest, lovingly nicknamed Princess Beanipanini.

This site is more than a showcase for my work—it’s a space where love, resilience, and storytelling converge. If you, too, are walking this path of loss, know that you are not alone.

Pax, Amor et Lux,

Bellamy xx
